Golf cart fleet pre-season checklist: 12 checks before the busy season

Before the busy season, check every golf cart's battery and charger, test brakes, steering and lights, photograph each cart's condition, write down where carts may and may not go, and decide who is told if a locked cart moves at night. These 12 checks take a small team a day or two and prevent most mid-season breakdowns.

Checklist questions

When should a golf cart fleet do its pre-season check?

Two to four weeks before the busy season, so there is time to order parts and repair carts that fail. Batteries and safety checks come first, because a flat or unsafe cart cannot go out at all.

What fails most often at the start of the season?

Batteries that were left uncharged in the off-season, worn brakes and tyres, and missing keys. A full charge test, a brake and tyre check and a key count catch most of these.
